Bringing a new concept to the capital, Gensol Mobility, a Maharashtra based company has launched an all-electric cab service n Delhi -NCR area. This is India’s first all-electric cab services ‘Blu-Smart’.
Gensol Mobility, part of the Gensol group, is the company behind Blu-Smart and has inducted only electric vehicles are part of its fleet for the national capital region. The service aims to provide a smart urban electric mobility option for consumers, according to the company. The new service comes as air pollution has risen to alarming levels in Delhi, while the central government has been promoting electric vehicles for its employees and personnel. The company will be using Mahindra e-Verito cars as its electric cabs in Delhi-NCR and has partnered with Mahindra & Mahindra.
Speaking on the e-cabs, Gensol Mobility – Promoter, Anmol Singh Jaggi said, “Green and pollution free existence is the mantra for human life, so smart and pollution free mobility can never be far. We at BLU-SMART, strongly believe that the next revolution is in the electric vehicle space and being a technology-driven organization, we had to venture into offering this mobility solution. We are not a competition to current app-based cabs services, but a mere greener alternative to them.”
The Cab services will rollout 70 cabs that will be available in Noida, Greater Noida, Guguram, Aerocity, Sonepat and more and the numbers will amp up to 400 by mid-March 2019.
The company, which is in talks with various car companies such as TATA motors, Mahindra and Mahindra and Nissan to procure more EVs and says it has invested over ₹ 50 crores in capital expenses and is setting up a charging infrastructure of 65 stations across NCR, with each having up to 20 charging points. Gensol has already installed 18 charging points till now.
The company says this will ensure there is a charging point in a 5 km radius of the EV. Moreover, Blu-Smart will also be surge price free which will set it apart from the conventional app-based cab services currently on offer. Blu-Smart is India’s first on-demand mobility platform that will be multi-modal, artificial intelligence based providing pollution free and convenient assured services, covering the entire value chain of smart mobility, smart charging and smart parking, according to the company. The company didnot share actual costs per km for its services at the time of filing this. However, any price above Rs 20 per km might be tough to push, in the price sensitive market that is the Delhi NCR region.
