Toshiba Water bags major STP upgradation contract from Bangalore water supply board
Toshiba Water, a global player in the water and wastewater sector, has bagged a key contract from Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) concerning the wastewater treatment of the city. BWSSB wants Toshiba Water to design, upgrade, rehabilitate and operate & maintain (O&M) three sewage treatment plants (STPs). BWSSB also awarded Toshiba Water to upgrade and rehabilitate five other STPs in the city.
The objective of the Bangalore utility is to relieve the Cauvery River from extensive mining of water and extract water for domestic uses from sewage water treatment.
Toshiba Water will be into upgradation, rehabilitation of and O&M services for the Kadubeesanahalli, Mylasandra, and Doddabele STPs.
The company will enhance the technology in Kadubeesanahalli STP from Extended Aeration to A2O Process Technology (Anaerobic Tank, Anoxic and Aeration tank system). The capacity of the STP is 50,000 m³ per day. The new technology employs a biological treatment process through multiple microorganisms whether aerobic or anaerobic to treat wastewater. Toshiba Water will ready the plant by February 2025.
The Mylasandra STP will also be converted to A2O Process Technology. It will be coupled with Tertiary Filtration and O&M services as the objective is to remove nitrogen and phosphorus from the sewage collected. Toshiba Water will raise the capacity of this STP from 75,000 m³ per day to 100,000 m³ per day.
Similarly, the company will also increase the capacity of Doddabele STP from 20,000 m³ per day to 35,000 m³ a day.
