Morris Garages unveiled its global pure electric SUV – the MG eZS, scheduled for launch in India by December this year and subsequently be launched in some other markets like the UK, Germany, Australia, Thailand & Middle East coinciding with the Indian launch.
“With a modern design and advanced technology, the MG eZS will herald a new chapter in environment-friendly solutions in India. While the petrol version of the MG ZS had already become a popular choice globally, we are confident that its zero-emissions electric equivalent will bring accessible electric motoring to the customers in India upon its launch by the end of this year,” said Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India.
The all-electric SUV is likely to feature remote engine start, geofence alerts, emergency assists, and other safety features like ‘find my car’ and E-Call functions.

“MG is set to mark a new era in the Indian mobility landscape with the launch of its first pure electric SUV, the MG eZS. Recently unveiled globally, this zero-emission electric car will come equipped with iSMART Next Gen Technology, paving the way for a cleaner future.” Says Pallavi Singh, Marketing head of MG motors India.
According to the experts, the all-electric SUV is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 20 lakh, and will use total of 120 sales and service outlets across India. The eZs will likely to have features of MG Hector’s remote functions as well as telematic services including iSMART internet-based connectivity features powered by an eSIM from Airtel. However, MG says the eZS will have a range of over 300-350kms on a full charge, and when the car will finally be launched, it will rival the Hyundai Kona Electric as well as the Nissan Leaf which will also be launched around the same period.
The China-spec MG eZS’ electric motor delivers 110kW (150PS) of max power and 350Nm of peak torque. MG claims the eZS can charge up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes using a DC fast charger. An AC charger takes up to 6.5 hours to juice up the batteries completely.
Initially, the MG eZS will be brought via the CBU (completely built-up unit) route. But MG plans to locally assemble the electric within three to four months after the launch.
