Vikram Solar Gets ‘Best Contribution in Solar Energy’ Award at CBIP Celebrations
New Year’s celebrations have not stopped for Vikram solar. This weekend Vikram Solar was conferred with the ‘Best Contribution in Solar Energy’ at the CBIP Awards 2019. The award is for outstanding contribution to the nation in the development of the renewable energy sector. The award was presented to Vikram Solar by the Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, Mr. R. K. Singh.
Mr. Gyanesh Chaudhary, CEO and Managing Director, Vikram Solar, said, “This is indeed a matter of great pride and honour for us. We thank Central Board of Irrigation & Power and the jury for acknowledging our work and conferring us with the award for ‘Best Contribution in Solar Energy’. This is an encouragement for us to continuously evolve ourselves and serve the country better.”
Central Board of Irrigation & Power (CBIP) has been presenting awards since its inception in 1927 in order to recognize the outstanding contribution of various organizations, stakeholders & professionals and to promote excellence in the Water, Power and Renewable Energy sectors.
Kolkata based solar panel maker, in the past, have been making advances in awards too. In 2018, the Company was honored with three more awards: Zee Business “Dare-to-Dream” Awards 2018 Kolkata Edition; The Kolkata Best Employer Brand Awards 2018; Kolkata Manufacturing Leadership Awards 2018.
The CBIP award came soon after Vikram solar signed a deal for 140 MW solar plant project from National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) on Jan 2. The location selected for the project is Bilhaur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Vikram Solar has previously, handled 50 MW solar plant project in Mandsaur, MP and 130 MW solar project in Bhadla, Rajasthan for NTPC.
A 700-acre area has been allotted for the project, and the solar plant is expected to successfully satisfy the electricity demand of the area. NTPC plans to install 225 MW solar plant in UP and Vikram Solar has been selected to commission the first allotment of 140 MW project. The project is expected to be completed by September 2020 (as per tender guidelines).
Vikram Solar currently has approximately 800 MW (commissioned+under execution) EPC portfolio in India. And has served clients like- NTPC, WBSDCL, GIPCL, BEL, BHEL, ISRO, IOCL, SBI, APGENCO, IMFA, Century Ply, KBL, etc. Vikram Solar’s annual PV Module production capacity currently stands at 1 GW.
