Mumbai based renewable energy firm Organic Recycling Systems Limited has announced the launch of Alpha Carbon platform and also the sale of its first product GAC-01 (activated carbon) through the platform.
ORS wants to revolutionise the landscape of activated carbon production through cutting-edge science and unwavering commitment to sustainability.
ORS held that GAC-01 (activated carbon) is a versatile adsorbent renowned for its ability to purify water, finds applications across a myriad of sectors, from environmental remediation to pharmaceutical manufacturing. At Alpha Carbon, the focus of ORS extends beyond mere product efficacy and the firm strives for excellence in every facet of its operation, from sourcing raw materials sustainably to optimizing manufacturing processes for minimal environmental impact.
There are multiple products in the brand offered to a vast range of industries. These are nature based activated carbon and charcoal products made from biomass. The coconut shell activated carbon is very high in demand. ORS is working aggressively in the waste industry and it has developed sources where they are able to collect these kinds of materials. Thereafter, ORS makes charcoal & activated carbons through their in-house developed technology called Sanjeevak Carbonization System.
ORS converts these biomass into charcoal and activated carbon. There is a highly reduced emission levels in their technology & process as compared to traditional methods of making charcoal in kilns.
In their Sanjeevak Carbonization System, ORS has developed a carbonization chamber and as a system that also hosts a reactor with Emission control device that doesn’t pollute the environment.
The activated carbon – made usually from coconut shells – is used in wastewater treatment and water treatment industry. Big municipal plants for water or wastewater treatment employ this in large quantities. Through activated carbon, water cleaning is amplified for portable purposes.
Activated charcoal or carbon is used in large quantities in a variety of industries that includes cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, gaseous emissions, food processing & beverages etc.
ORS held that the entire idea behind the launch of Alpha Carbon is to bring ecological and economical sustainability in the scheme of things of the biomass industry. There are lots of biomass like coffee nutshell, cashew nutshell, palm nutshell etc. that remain untapped and the company wants to create value from them. Many of these biomass types end up in landfills unfortunately. The food processing units, farmers and farmer producer organisations, waste processing facilities etc. have lots of biomass generated and they find it difficult with the disposal of the waste.
ORS says that it is trying to open up an additional revenue stream to food processing units, farmers and farmer producer organisations, waste processing facilities etc. The company is helping these units to deploy the Sanjeevak Carbonisation System and also purchase the resulting charcoal and activated carbon; hence, giving them an offtake guarantee of the charcoal output. The launch of Alpha Carbon is a serious effort in this direction.
