Organic Recycling System partners SSS-NIBE to step-up biogas production
Mumbai-based Organic Recycling System Limited has announced that it has collaborated with the Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Bioenergy (SSS-NIBE) in Kapurthala to enhance biogas development across the country. SSS-NIBE comes under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
The new partnership aims to harness the full biogas potential of Napier grass through anaerobic digestion, aligning with the nation’s renewable energy goals.
The collaboration will primarily concentrate on employing co-digestion techniques to process Napier grass and other agricultural residues, thereby producing biogas. As a part of this initiative, a pilot biogas plant will be established at Organic Recycling System’s existing Solapur facility to experiment and optimize the biogas production process using Napier grass. Upon successful trials, the technology will be upscaled for commercial utilization, with Organic Recycling System leading the implementation and operation of the biogas plant.
Yashas Bhand, CEO of Organic Recycling System, said, “This collaboration represents a significant milestone in our efforts to drive sustainable waste management solutions and renewable energy generation. By combining our expertise with NIBE’s research capabilities we aim to pioneer new pathways for biogas production and drive positive change in the renewable energy landscape of India, contributing significantly to the nation’s sustainable development goals.”
