NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) has sought expressions of interest (EoI) from manufacturers specializing in green hydrogen and its derivatives generation/storage products.

NGEL looks to establish green hydrogen manufacturing facilities at Pudimadaka in Andhra Pradesh, utilizing a 1,200-acre land parcel in the de-notified SEZ area of Pudimadaka, Achutapuram.

The state government has granted in-principle approval for transforming the land into a green hydrogen hub. NGEL’s plan involves two key components for the development of the land into green hydrogen den.

First, the allocation of a portion of the land for the establishment of facilities dedicated to the production of green hydrogen, ammonia, and other derivatives.

Secondly, identification and development of another part of the land as a manufacturing hub for equipment and technologies related to green hydrogen and its derivatives, including storage. The total area designated for this manufacturing setup is approximately 300 acres.

The notification said that NGEL will provide necessary infrastructure facilities such as land, water, and electricity for the green hydrogen quest.

The bidding process concludes on February 13th. Following the identification of suitable applicants through the Expression of Interest (EOI), NGEL may engage in separate commercial agreements with prospective entities, subject to the consent of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corp, for the allocation of space.

In a separate tender, NGEL has also invited domestic bids for the supervision of plant operations and maintenance (O&M) and civil works at the 225 MW Bilhaur Solar Power Project in Uttar Pradesh. The scope of work encompasses activities such as forecasting and scheduling, SCADA monitoring, general O&M tasks, and day-to-day site/project office operations.

Recently, Oil India Ltd (OIL) invited domestic proposals for the establishment of a 1-MW green hydrogen facility in Himachal Pradesh.
