The government of Victoria, Australia has given green signal for two new renewable energy projects. These include the Brewster Wind Farm near Beaufort and the Baranduda Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near Wodonga.

The Brewster Wind Farm will have six wind turbines with a total capacity of 40 megawatts (MW). It is expected to generate electricity for about 25,000 households each year. The Baranduda BESS will have a storage capacity of 400MW and will connect to the Wodonga Terminal Station. It is designed to supply power during peak demand and support around 140,000 households annually.

Victoria has been investing in renewable energy through wind, solar, and battery storage projects. The Golden Plains Wind Farm, currently under construction, is set to produce 1,300MW. The Bulgana Green Power Hub combines a 194MW wind farm with battery storage to provide stable electricity supply. The Mortlake South Wind Farm adds 157MW of wind energy to the grid.

Victoria is also developing large-scale solar projects. The Winton Solar Farm has a capacity of 98.8MW, and the Numurkah Solar Farm generates 128MW of electricity. These projects contribute to the state’s efforts to increase solar power generation.

Battery storage is playing a role in managing renewable energy supply. The Victorian Big Battery near Geelong has a capacity of 450MW and is designed to store excess renewable energy and release it when needed. The addition of the Baranduda BESS will further strengthen Victoria’s energy storage network.

Small-scale solar installations are also expanding. The Solar Homes program has supported over 200,000 households in installing rooftop solar panels. Community energy projects are being developed to help local areas generate and use renewable power.

Victoria continues to expand its renewable energy capacity through new projects in wind, solar, and battery storage. These investments aim to increase clean energy generation and improve grid reliability.
