Gensol, Matrix Set To Build Green Hydrogen Project In Maharashtra
The Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Smart Energy Council of Australia on Saturday, marking a significant step toward enhancing cooperation in the fields of clean energy, renewable resources, green hydrogen, and battery energy storage systems.
The MoU was signed by John Grimes, Chief Executive Officer of the Smart Energy Council, and K P Rudrappaiah, Managing Director of KREDL.
Karnataka State Energy Minister K J George stated that this agreement aims to advance clean energy and green hydrogen initiatives, further strengthening Karnataka’s connections with Australian companies.
Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary and part of the delegation to Australia, highlighted that the partnership will facilitate not only technology exchange and collaboration but also explore bilateral investment opportunities, supporting shared goals in clean energy, renewables, and green hydrogen commercialization.
Under the agreement, KREDL will promote and assist in integrating Australian technologies into local markets.
Karnataka Green Hydrogen Quest
Karnataka is developing a dedicated green hydrogen policy to attract investments, foster demand, and promote green hydrogen in industries and mobility. The policy aims to make Karnataka a leading green hydrogen state in India.
JSW Energy will be constructing 25-megawatt green hydrogen project in Vijayanagar of Karnataka for its group company JSW Steel Ltd. to manufacture green steel. Sharad Mahendra, Joint MD & CEO of JSW Energy, expressed confidence in commissioning the project by Q4 of FY25.
Last July, US based Ohmium International, a leading green hydrogen company that designs, manufactures, and deploys advanced Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, has inaugurated its new gigafactory in Doddaballapura, Bengaluru.
