Gurugram based biogas conglomerate EverEnviro has announced that its compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Indore in Madhya Pradesh has clocked the 100 per cent utilisation level.

Established in 2022 under a public-private partnership with the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), this plant transforms municipal solid waste into clean-burning CBG.

EverEnviro says that the CBG plant is operating at a consistent production rate of nearly 15 tonnes per day, with a recent peak of 18 tonnes per day. The CBG plant is designed to manage 550 tonnes of organic waste on a daily basis.

According to the agreement, the IMC commits to purchasing at least 50% of the CBG output. Moreover, a pipeline connection to Avantika Gas, a city gas distribution company, enables broader distribution of this eco-friendly fuel.

EverEnviro emphasizes that by processing segregated organic waste daily, the plant curtails greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 70,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually. Over the next twenty years, it is anticipated to prevent the accumulation of over 4 million tonnes of waste.

“The impact of this CBG plant extends beyond Indore, contributing to both the community and the nation at large,” said EverEnviro CEO Mahesh Girdhar.

Presently, EverEnviro is actively engaged in approximately 20 CBG projects across states such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Punjab.

India’s recent announcement mandates phased blending of CBG in CNG and domestic piped natural gas (PNG) segments starting in the fiscal year 2025-26. This strategic move aims to reduce dependence on conventional fossil fuels, promote sustainable energy sources, and align with net-zero emission objectives.

EverEnviro recently agreed for a joint venture with ONGC to set up compressed biogas plants (CBG) across India. In a key development, the Board of ONGC at its meeting held recently considered and accorded in principle, an approval for formation of joint venture companies with EverEnviro and another entity to set up 15 CBG plants.
