H2Earth Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. Director Kapil Agarwal has announced during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos that his company will be establishing a silicon metal, green hydrogen & ammonia manufacturing facilities in India. He revealed that he met with Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, who encouraged him to submit a detailed progress report and assured government support, including subsidies.

Agarwal highlighted the ongoing green hydrogen project by H2Earth in Saudi Arabia, noting the Saudi government’s strong interest in the initiative. “Being originally from India, I am eager to invest here. It’s a significant investment that will create jobs and align with our Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbharta or self-reliance,” he added.

Agarwal emphasized the strategic importance of silicon metal for India’s semiconductor industry, noting that China currently dominates 90-95% of global silicon metal supplies. “Without producing our own silicon metal, India’s semiconductor sector will remain reliant on China, posing a severe risk,” he stated.

The H2Earth Director also met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss plans for a large-scale green hydrogen and green ammonia plant, likely to be established in the Ratnagiri-Palghar area. This would be India’s first commercial plant of its kind. H2Earth has partnered with a prominent Spanish company specializing in green hydrogen and ammonia production.

The project’s initial investment is estimated at Rs 2,000 crores (apprx $ 250 million), with potential expansion exceeding $ 1 billion over the next three to four years. H2Earth focuses on three core areas: Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia production, Renewable Power Generation, and Wastewater Management.

Meanwhile, states such as Kerala, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and West Bengal have made their presence felt at WEF 2025.
