Andhra Pradesh committed for 500 biogas plants, says state energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar
The state minister specifically mentioned that the CBG plants will come up in Kanigiri, Darsi, and Markapuram. He also expressed support for establishing a biogas plant in Sattenapalli.
Andhra Pradesh government looks firm on its intent to give unprecedented stimulus to bioenergy as the State Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar has held that Andhra will see the development of 500 biogas projects in near future.
The minister was addressing during the inauguration of the ward secretariat buildings constructed in Phanidam. Gottipati Ravi Kumar is also Palandu district in-charge.
Speaking on the occasion, Gottipati highlighted that following discussions between Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and representatives from Reliance Company, the company agreed to set up 500 biogas plants in the state.
He specifically held that the CBG plants will be located in Kanigiri, Darsi, and Markapuram. The minister expressed his support for establishing a biogas plant in Sattenapalli and emphasised that if this proposal is realized, local youth will benefit from job opportunities.
Previously the state Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana had announced that waste-to-energy plants will be established across all 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh, modelled after the advanced facilities in Singapore and Tokyo.
Revolutionizing Renewable Energy In Andhra
In October this year, the Andhra Pradesh government unveiled an ambitious plan to attract Rs 10 lakh crore investment in the clean energy sector with an objective to achieve the net-zero carbon emissions by 2047. The new AP Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy, introduced by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has a renewed focus on round-the-clock renewable energy projects including ethanol, compressed biogas and green hydrogen.
Subsequently, Reliance Industries revealed its intent to invest Rs 65,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh in biogas projects. This marked the largest investment by Reliance made outside Gujarat to support its clean energy goals.
