REnergy, Emerson partner to bring automation solutions to Indian CBG market

The strategic collaboration is set to drive significant advancements in the bioenergy sector in India by introducing advanced instrumentation and high-accuracy flow measurement technology.

REnergy Dynamics (RED), a leading bioenergy player in India, has signed an exclusive distributor agreement with global automation technology and software leader Emerson. Under the new agreement the two companies will bring impactful automation solutions for Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) projects in India.

REnergy said that this strategic collaboration is set to drive significant advancements in the bioenergy sector in India by introducing advanced instrumentation and high-accuracy flow measurement technology.

The Indian biogas market is currently valued at approximately $ 1.47 billion and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.3% to reach $ 2.25 billion by 2029. With automation layered on top of it, REnergy sees significant business opportunity in this sector over the next five years.

Kushagra Nandan, CMD, REnergy, said, “By integrating these state-of-the-art flow measurement instruments into their projects, our clients will be able to improve efficiency and output at each stage of the CBG manufacturing process.”

Nandan said that the Emerson agreement aligns well with three of four focus areas of REnergy: the development of company-owned large-scale bioenergy projects; engineering, procurement and construction services to renewable energy developers; feedstock aggregation and its supply to CBG projects; and the manufacturing and marketing of CBG plant components.

Automation can usher in significant value addition at each stage of a CBG project and help unleash the full potential of bioenergy in meeting the growing demand for clean energy in India.

Anil Bhatia, MD, Emerson India, said, “Our technologies help them accelerate transitioning to cleaner, renewable energy sources. The collaboration with REnergy will drive greater adoption of sustainability-enabling technologies that reduce emissions and support better use of our natural resources.

Varun Karad, CEO of REnergy, stated that his firm is joining forces with Emerson in India to advance instrumentation and PLC-based automation for Indian bioenergy projects, offering significant advantages throughout the complex process of producing, storing, and distributing CBG. “The process optimization achieved will help increase productivity, ensure consistent quality, prevent costly operational losses by boosting efficiency and reducing downtime, and, most importantly, enhance safety,” mentioned Karad.
