BCL Industries to invest Rs. 300 crore in 250-KLPD ethanol plant in Faridabad
Upon completion, the total distillery capacity of BCL Industries will increase from the current 700 KLPD to 1,100 KLPD, including an additional 150 KLPD at its Bathinda unit and 250 KLPD at the newly acquired Fatehabad unit.
BCL Industries Ltd. (BCL) has revealed its plans to acquire Goyal Distillery Private Ltd., located in Fatehabad, Haryana, to give fillip to the company’s ethanol production dreams. The acquired distillery already has the necessary land and permissions for setting up a 250 KLPD grain-based ethanol plant.
With this strategic acquisition, BCL would like to expand its production capacity by establishing a 250 KLPD ethanol plant, alongside a power plant that will primarily use paddy straw as fuel. The distillery can be operational in nearly half the usual time. Also, as all regulatory clearances are already secured.
This acquisition is expected to further solidify the leadership of BCL in India’s grain-based ethanol production industry. Once the deal is finalized, Goyal Distillery will become a wholly owned subsidiary of BCL Industries Ltd.
Upon completion, the reports hold that the total distillery capacity of BCL will increase from the current 700 KLPD to 1,100 KLPD, including an additional 150 KLPD at its Bathinda unit and 250 KLPD at the newly acquired Fatehabad unit.
Moreover, BCL is advancing its green energy initiatives by planning to establish a biogas plant with a 20 MTPD capacity on an adjacent 9-acre plot of land. The areas has been acquired specifically for the clean gas production purpose. The biogas plant will consume around 250 MT of paddy straw daily, demonstrating BCL’s continued commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The total capital expenditure for the distillery and biogas plant in Fatehabad is projected at around Rs. 350 crore, with an expected timeline of approximately 20 months from groundbreaking to completion.
Haryana is home to many of the big ethanol project including the IOCL’s 2G ethanol facility producing 100 KLPD, Karnal mill of 120 KLPD and Saraswati Sugarmill with 100 KLPD etc.
