Avaada Group’s Green Hydrogen Project inaugurated by Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony for Avaada Group’s green hydrogen project in Gopalpur, Ganjam district. This substantial venture, requiring an investment of Rs 8,000 crore, mirrors India’s ambition to become a leading global hub for green hydrogen production.
Expected to have profound economic and social implications, the project is anticipated to generate approximately 1,600 direct jobs and 4,000 indirect employment opportunities during its implementation phase.
Strategically situated near the Gopalpur deep-sea port, Avaada Group’s green ammonia storage facility will facilitate the export of green hydrogen, contributing to the global endeavor to achieve Net Zero emissions, particularly in challenging sectors worldwide. Scheduled for completion by December 2026, the project underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable energy practices.
Vineet Mittal, Chairman, Avaada Group, expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Odisha government in realizing this ambitious endeavor. He underscored the importance of green ammonia as a clean and renewable alternative across various sectors, including agriculture, transportation, and industry.
Aligned with India’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions as per the Paris Agreement, Avaada’s green hydrogen initiative not only advances Odisha’s renewable energy goals but also stimulates job growth and economic development in the region.
