Green & energy audits of 120 HEIs in Madhya Pradesh likely

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) is likely to carry out green (environmental) and energy audit of 120 government higher educational institutions (HEIs) in Madhya Pradesh.

“The varsity was asked by state government to prepare a proposal regarding the energy and environmental audit of 100-120 government colleges of the state which will be done by University Teaching Department (UTD), School Of Energy And Environmental Studies And Research,” DAVV’s college development council director, Rajeev Dixit told a national daily. The varsity is most likely to get a handsome amount of fees for the audit, he added.

The energy and green audit would be carried out in two phases by UTD.

In the first phase, DAVV plans to lay emphasis on energy audit in order to identify gadgets that are inefficient followed by power consumption audit. In the power consumption audit, power generating and consuming sources along with electrical sources would be included.

In the next phase, the team will try to shift the load of maximum energy consumption to renewable energy sources in order to reduce carbon footprint and make campus green. The experts will also lay emphasis on the solid waste management.

The varsity has sent a proposal to the state government in this regard this week. The project will be funded by World Bank.

“This is a win-win situation for DAVV as it will get an additional experience which will be an add-on during the forthcoming cycle of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC),” DAVV vice chancellor Dr Renu Jain reportedly said.

This will not be the first time that the varsity will carry out such an audit. In the past, DAVV has carried out energy audit for Vallabh Bhawan and Raj Bhawan besides 47 energy audits and energy conservation projects in the state too.
